Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a website template?
A: A template is a
pre-designed look for your website. It is a faster, economical way to get a website for your
business. Some people shy away from templates, for the fear of having their site look identical to
another. However, with a few simple changes, such as text, colors, images, etc., a template designed site can
become your own.
Q: What steps are involved in getting my website and
internet presence?
A: You will need to determine what you wish to display in your
website. What kind of information do you want to share with your customers? I suggest that you
search the internet for your type of business. I will never copy another website or its content, but
this is a good way to come up with ideas.
Jot down your ideas, remember the websites that you visited, collect the
information that you wish to display on your site, photos, etc. Please do not send me copyrighted
material, unless it is your own. I will not be responsible for any copyright violations. Royalty
Free Stock Images are available via the internet. These are not free, but can be purchased at
a reasonable price. If you desire custom headers and images from photos that are not your own, I
must require reimbursement, if I purchase them for you.
After your ideas have been presented, we will discuss any fees, if any, that are
not included in your package of your choice. We will also discuss your maintenance requirements; how often
you will require upgrades to your site and the charges involved. (I will not break the bank for maintenance of your
site!) I will assist you with a third party hosting company and domain name. I am not affiliated
with any hosting companies.
When all is agreed, we require a 50% deposit to begin.
I will go to work on your site, providing you with
screenshots throughout the process.
When your site is completed, the remaining 50% payment is due.
Your site will be published to your server and your company is on the internet.
I will work over the next 3 months to enhance your search engine
placement.
Q:
How long does it take for my website to be completed?
A: It depends on the
content of your site. Will your site be based on a pre designed template that requires little editing or will
it be custom designed? Will your site have numerous images that require editing?
The time to complete your site could take from 3 to 4 days or it could take
up to one month. It is rare that it will take a month, but in order to do the best work possible, I will
not rush and submit an incomplete or low quality website to the internet.
Q: Why is search engine optimization important and how long does it take to have my site recognized
by the search engines?
A: Not only
do I want your site visible to the search engines, but it is my goal to have satisfactory
rankings. If someone uses a keyword to search for your type of business, they will not bother to look
through hundreds of pages until they find your site.
In all reality, there are probably thousands
of companies that do the same type of work that you do. It is difficult to get a site at the top of the
rankings, if you have thousands ahead of you. They are going to have the top search engine rankings if their
site has been properly optimized, if they have been on the internet for a long time, and if they are
popular with visitors. Although I can not guarantee your placement in the search engine
rankings, I will make every attempt to get you into the best spot possible. For that reason, I
will work over the next 3 months, using various strategies to speed the process.
